For a long time, the shark has been an important part of our imagination. In our western world, he is often considered to be evil…a marine monster capable of devouring us and who inspires a visceral and often irrational fear. He is a demon. In the eastern world, he is thought of quite differently. There, he is regarded in a less uniform manner. Feared or adored, and sometimes both at the same time, the shark is the incarnation of the forces of nature, or the spirit of tribal ancestors. He is a creator and a destroyer…He is a god.
